No Boys/No Girls Allowed Clubs

The No Boys and No Girls Allowed Clubs will begin again in September. You can start signing up for them on August 24th in the Children’s library.

Remember you have to sign up in order to attend. Please don’t bring friends with you who are not signed up.

We only allow 20 kids to sign up so sign up early.

No Boys/Girls Allowed Clubs are for kids ages 7 to 12 and are held on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays of every month from 3:15 to 4:00.

Storytime

Our preschool storytime will begin again on September 1st and will start at 11:00.

No Storytime until September

Now that our summer reading program is over we will not be having children’s storytime for the rest of the summer. We will begin our regular Pre-school storytimes on Wednesday September 1st and 11:00

Final Party

Our Final party will be held on July 14th at the Rec Center.

We will have a special guest – Ginger Parkinson a storyteller from Utah. She  will be coming to present “Splash Into Stories”. This will be a great way to end our summer reading program.

After the storytelling we will have our drawings for the prizes. Everyone who turns in at least 1 Make a Splash Card will receive a prize, and everyone who reads all 10 hours will get a free kids meal to Wheelers Drive In. You do not have to be at storytime to get a prize. If you are unable to attend our final storytime you can pick up your prize up in the children’s library.

Remember all of your Make A Splash cards  must be turned in before storytime starts.  We will only accept time cards until 8:00 p.m.  on July 14th.

Squish, Squash: Freshwater

Hop on over to storytime July 7th and learn all about frogs. We will have some fun stories, a  frog craft and contest. You will also get a chance to see real frogs and learn about their life cycle.

Summer Reading Kick Off Party

Our Kick off Party for our summer reading program will be held on Wednesday June 2nd at 10:45 – 11:45 in the Mt. Pleasant Rec Center.

Our theme this year is

Our theme for the kick off will be luau. We will be having some fun stories, making a fun shell craft and doing a little hula dancing.  Come prepared to have a lot of fun.

Registration will start at our kick off and will continue until July 7th.

Come join us for our first storytime of the summer as we get ready to Make A Splash.

Basic Living Lecture Series – “True to Seed”

THURSDAYS at 6:30

Next Basic Living Lecture series is “True to Seed: Growing tips and lectures. These weekly classes will start April 29th (Thursday) and go all summer. Held at the Mt. Pleasant library from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Information will be presented from the book “Seed to Seed” by Suzanne Ashworth. You can either take good notes or purchase the book for yourself from Amazon. The following is an outline of the things we will be learning:

April 29th: We will be watching a documentary called “Monsanto.” It is an eye opener to what is happening to our farming industry and heritage seeds.

May 6th: Gardeners as Stewards, Botanical Classifications, Pollination and Flower Structure

May 13th: Maintaining Variety Purity

May 20th: Seed Cleaning Methods and Seed Storage Technigques

May 27th: The Amaryllidaceae Family and the Brassicaceae Family

June 3rd: The chenopodiaceae Family and the compositae Family

June 10th: The Cucurbitaceae Family

June 17th: The Leguminosae Family

June 24th: The Solanaceae Family

July 1st: Umbelliferae Fmaily
