No Boys/No Girls Allowed Clubs

The No Boys and No Girls Allowed Clubs will begin again in September. You can start signing up for them on August 24th in the Children’s library.

Remember you have to sign up in order to attend. Please don’t bring friends with you who are not signed up.

We only allow 20 kids to sign up so sign up early.

No Boys/Girls Allowed Clubs are for kids ages 7 to 12 and are held on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays of every month from 3:15 to 4:00.

Our preschool storytime will begin again on September 1st and will start at 11:00.

Now that our summer reading program is over we will not be having children’s storytime for the rest of the summer. We will begin our regular Pre-school storytimes on Wednesday September 1st and 11:00

Summer Reading Program

Our summer reading program is for Children ages 0 to 12, and is made possible by our generous sponsors. Check out our pictures!

(those who are 12 and going into 7th grade in the fall can choose to participate in the children’s summer reading program or the teen summer reading program but they can’t do both.)

HOW IT WORKS!!

Goals for the summer reading program

To motivate children to read
To develop positive attitudes about reading and books
To enable children to maintain their reading skill during summer vacation
To encourage regular use of the library
To attract new users to the library

In order to reach our goals we have put together a fun and exciting summer reading program.

The goal for the children’s summer reading program is to read 10 hours between June 2^nd and July 14^th.

(In order to keep it fair you can only count up to 10 hours of reading for the program, but we encourage you to

read as much as you can.)

When you sign up you will be given a time card and a page with 10 Make A Splash Cards on it. Each card represents one hour of reading. For every hour you read you will cut out a card and turn it in at the library to be entered in a drawing for prizes. You will need to bring in your time card so we can sign each box.

This year we will also have a big rainbow fish in the hall of our library. For every hour you read you will receive a fish scale with your name on it to add to our rainbow fish. After you have read all 10 hours you will receive a silver scale to add to the fish.

After you have completed your 10 hours of reading and turned in your time sheet you will also receive a free kids meal from Wheelers Drive In.

All time cards and Make A Splash card will be due no later than July 14th.

Our final party will be held on July 14th where we will have the drawing for the prizes. Every child who reads at least one hour and turns in a reading card will receive a prize.

Registration starts at the first storytime on June 2^nd and will last until July 7^th. We will not accept any registrations after July 7^th.

We will hold our weekly story times every Wednesday at 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Rec Center.

Parents we need volunteers to help with the weekly story times. If you can help please sign up at the library.

Book Sale

BOOK & BAKE SALE

As part of the 4th of July celebration the library will be holding a book and bake sale.

On July 3rd, come to the library grounds to look through our used and donated books. Many to choose from and bargains to be found. A bake sale will also be run by the Friends of the Library. Please help by donating your favorite baked goods. If you can donate please contact Charlene Palmer at 462-2326 for more information.

‘WONDERS OF WATER’

Have you ever wondered where the rain comes from, or where it disappears to, or how those clouds hold all those big raindrops? Well, come and join us as we learn all about water and the water cycle . We are going to have some fun doing some experiments with water. Just to be SAFE, and to have some extra FUN, be ready to get WET!!!! Mom’s, we are not swimming but we may very likely be getting WET. Come and join the fun and remember, “THE MORE THE MERRIER”. See you there on Wed. June 7th-2010.
